José David Reus began his artistic career as a DJ at the age of 18, during the golden era of vinyl records and club culture. From the very beginning, he developed a solid technical foundation and a natural ability to read the dance floor and connect with the audience, exploring a wide range of musical styles that would shape his distinctive musical identity.
In 1989, he opened his own venue, Disco-Pub Latino, a landmark project where he refined his personal style and mastered the art of creating powerful and dynamic dance floor atmospheres. During this period, he also hosted a weekly radio show dedicated to the latest developments in the disco and club music scene.
Driven by a passion for the performing arts, he studied theatre and film acting, participating in stage productions and audiovisual projects. At the same time, he built a professional career in the field of professional sound systems, gaining extensive technical expertise and a deep appreciation for high-quality audio as a fundamental element of the musical experience.
Although his DJ career began at an early age, tango had always been part of his life through the influence of his maternal grandfather, whose family came from San Juan, Argentina. Inspired by this personal connection, in 2005 he embarked on an extensive project of researching, collecting and remastering tangos, valses and milongas. The result is a carefully curated music collection, widely appreciated for its exceptional sound quality.
In 2008, he founded La Pasional Milonga in Benidorm, where he continues to serve as the resident Tango DJ. Today, La Pasional is recognized as one of the region’s reference milongas, renowned for its authentic atmosphere and its carefully crafted, traditional and vibrant musical programming.
With more than 18 years of experience as a Tango DJ, José David Reus has performed at major tango events throughout Spain and in many European countries, including France, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, Hungary and Norway.
To date, he has performed more than 1,000 DJ sets at milongas, including over 100 appearances at international festivals, marathons and tango encuentros.
In addition to being a DJ, he is also a tango dancer, teacher and organizer, giving him a comprehensive understanding of tango culture and an exceptional ability to interpret the dynamics of the dance floor. His musical selections are distinguished by an intelligent progression of energy, profound respect for the traditional orchestras, and a remarkable sensitivity for sustaining the emotional atmosphere of each milonga. His tandas do more than invite people to dance—they invite them to feel.
